About Me

Some life circumstances are not meant to be understood; the call is just to keep moving forward one step at a time. That’s called faith.

I wrote this on my Facebook page a few days before my neck was broken in August 2013. This blog is about my life as a quadriplegic and how my faith fits in to my every day journey. If you disagree with my beliefs, that’s okay with me. This is my truth. It is my story. It is my spiritual race to run. And this race has been marked out for me by God, and it has a great reward. For that reason, I can praise Him.

      • Dear Lord I feel your pain and hard fought mental/spiritual revelations and victories! I’m one of the few who can truly say “I have been there,,I spent 3 months in a hospital completely paralyzed below the belt,,L2 complete break.”. I hear you wondering about the reason for your injury. From an outside observer perspective,,,and possibly ,,if we get along,,with the help and support from a fellow quad. turn your diary into the backdrop and spine of a novel thats if part fiction and part designed lessons through possibly mystery,,action,,what ever we might decide?? Possible?

Hi Terri, thank you for sharing your faith. My brother was in a terrible diving accident and is now a quadriplegic and on a ventilator. He has received a lot of support and has met a new family of friends through an organization called Triumph. If you live in Southern California, look them up. I have seen how beneficial it is for my brother to be surrounded by friends with similar experiences.

May our Lord pour His all-sufficient grace out upon you. I do pray for physical healing, and I see that spiritual blessing has already occurred. May you be filled with the peace that surpasses human understanding. (Philippians 4:4-7)

  12. Dear Terri,

My name is Ashlee. I’m co-founder of the Youshare Project, with the mission to connect people around the world through true, personal stories. I recently stumbled across your blog and read through your 2015 archives. You write beautifully and from the heart, and your story and your faith are incredibly compelling.

I’m wondering if you would consider submitting a story about your life to youshare – about your injury and how it has changed you physically, mentally, and spiritually. If this sounds interesting to you, I would love to email you directly with more information/ideas and formally invite you to share your story with the project.

Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon.

    Best,
    Ashlee

  13. Terri,

Thank you so much for following “A Way with Words.” My joy in writing is made more complete when people read what I’ve written and even more as they respond.

I write mainly about my faith story as a Christian battling bipolar disorder for almost 30 years.

You have a powerful testimony to share, Terri. I look forward to reading more of your work. May God bless you as you are a blessing to others.

  16. Well, here I am impressed as anything. Not only are you living, but excelling. I know I’m going to find a lot of Christian insight from you. There’s no other way you could be out here, spreading the Word and making connections! Absolutely am going to follow!

I currently read a post by a young lady who is recovered from anorexia. She too has fought hard battles. I think you might enjoy it, because it’s more about faith in God an encouraging people in their own battles than just having anorexia. She’s BeautyBeyondBones here on WordPress. Here’s a link to my article about her website: https://jeffreyhking.wordpress.com/2016/01/23/beauty-and-the-ed-beast/

Terri, Mary & Bill Sweeney recommended your blog. My brother Adam has been a quadriplegic since Sept. 17, 2017. We are in the 24 month waiting period for Medicare so right now he is on Medicaid and we can’t get him all the PT & OT treatment he needs. This last year has been a trial. I hope you use your blog to encourage Adam and show him there is so much more to his life that just this facility (and all those hospitals we’ve been in).
I’ve just started reading your posts and I am already inspired. Blessings to you, Rebecca

  27. Hi Terri, I came to thank you for the follow, because it gives me such encouragement when someone is interested in reading my blog. I came to say thanks for that, but what I found is a woman of great courage and I am inspired to reach higher when I see my unknown family such as you and Bill Sweeney that bust all odds to forge ahead in pursuit of their Lord and the calling of their life. God Bless you in your faithfulness and strength! May you ‘feel’ His arms wrapped around you in your spirit and may you one day feel them physically with a miracle from above!

  28. Hi Lori! I look forward to following your blog as well. I know it is God that gives me strength because I surely couldn’t do this on my own. I am thankful every day that I have a relationship with Him and that He wants to hear my prayers. It blows my mind, really. He chose me out of all the people around me to have a relationship with him and to use this disability for his purposes. Love and blessings to you as well! –Terri

Hi Terri, I stumbled into your article as I write and read articles in the WomenTodayInternational. You and your life story are such an inspiration to me and many others. Instead of being bitter and blaming God, you take this extremely difficult situation to encourage others and to praise God! I am moved by your story. I am a single mother with two adult children staying in Singapore. You inspire me to do more to encourage other women in this part of the world. God blesses you with His strength, love and wisdom!
